Our Story
MFJN is a collaboration of individuals and organizations in the Twin Cities Metro Area partnering to advance racial equity by transforming our food system. We center communities that are most affected by systemic racism in the food system; Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), through collective power and shared resources.
We’re honored to be the new caretakers of The Common Table exhibit at the MN State Fair! Since 2014, The Common Table wing of the Agriculture-Horticulture Building has been the gathering place for food justice at the Fair, bringing together community members, organizations, restaurants, growers, eaters, and dreamers from across the state.
Metro Food Justice Network is excited to continue the momentum created by so many dedicated organizers and volunteers over the years. As MFJN lives into its new leadership role with The Common Table, we will expand and enhance the exhibit by tying all the current elements together and highlighting the systemic nature of what goes into eating food. This includes making a more explicit connection to equity, highlighting our common experiences of food, and making connections between urban and rural food systems.
